Let's Make Music!

Celebrate National Culture Days with Music!

The Vision:
As part of the community wide celebrations for National Culture Days (Sept. 30 – Oct. 2, 2011), the Schulich School of Education at Brantford has a vision for the Let’s Make Music Conference as a catalyst for creating positive music education experiences for pre-service and in-service teachers in the Brantford and surrounding communities. This conference features a variety of free practical music education workshops offered by a broad range of musicians and music educators from within the community and across the province.

The Participants: The Let’s Make Music Conference aims to provide classroom teachers with practical and useful strategies for creating meaningful musical experiences for their students.  As part of the culture days celebrations, the invitation would be extended to any interested stakeholders from the community including, but not limited to local private music school instructors, community choir directors, daycamp leaders, etc.

The Workshops:  Two sets of workshops will be offered – one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. In each of the two hour timeslots, participants have the opportunity to sign up for one of six FREE workshops. Some workshops may be repeated in both sessions so you don't have to choose. Workshops will be held at the Wellington Street building of the Brantford campus in the heart of downtown Brantford.  These workshops are designed with the non-music specialist in mind, but will be of interest to anyone with a love of music.

While the workshops are free, they will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Although there will be some on-site registration, no guaratee can be made that your preference of workshop will still be available.
