BUCKET DRUMMING
-Presented by Pat Whiteside.
This workshop will provide hands-on methods to teach bucket drumming skills to students of all ages.  Plastic buckets of various sizes substitute for traditional percussion instruments.  This workshop will explore techniques, teaching strategies and composition ideas for bucket drumming ensembles.  Buckets and sticks are provided.  Teaching materials will be available for purchase.

GLEE IN THE PRIMARY JUNIOR CLASSROOM - Presented by Kirk Kiernander.
Learn how to create an inspiring and energetic choir where students don't just come to stay inside from the blistering Canadian winters and leave when the ice melts, but come because they love it. Vocal warm-ups, cultural songs, and how to create mash-ups are a few topics being explored.

STOMP THE YARD  Presented by Valerie Ayroso
Looking for an interactive, engaging approach to your junior/intermediate classroom?  Stomp the (insert your school name here) Yard is inspired by the movie, Stomp the Yard.  A great introductory unit to rhythm, this will have kids out of their seats, co-operating with each other and interacting with rhythms.  This unit embeds differentiation to be suitable for any grade and all learners.  An urban flavour engages suburban, and rural kids alike and will have kids learning rhythm and theory in an exciting way. 

BOOMWHACKERS - Presented by Michael Pin 
Boomwhackers are an effective and engaging pedagogical tool for teaching students how to read, write, and perform music. A quick web search reveals that they are appropriate for students from the age of 5 through 105. This workshop will explore their use in the classroom and include elements of D/I, A&E, and fun activities. Unable to read music? Come learn with us.

MUSIC FOR KINDERGARTEN - Presented by Kate Rainsberry-Parker
This workshop will be useful for the Kindergarten classroom teacher with limited or no musical background or music prep teacher. We will explore finger plays, singing games, movement activities and an introduction to the use of instruments, all important aspects to a fun and differentiated music programme. Please dress comfortably and be ready to sing and play!


INTRODUCTION TO GUITAR - Presented by Debi Radin
Have you been thinking about using singing in your classroom to hook or motivate your students, or as a way to teach concepts? In this hands-on session, you will learn how to set up , tune a guitar and play common  chords that are used in many songs. You can adapt these to the songs that you want to teach your students or create songs with your students.  Remember to bring your own or borrow a guitar for this session.


HOW TO START YOUR OWN GUITAR PROGRAM - Presented by Debi Radin
Would you like to teach your students how to play guitar as part of the classroom program or as an extra-curriculuar activity? In this practical and hands-on workshop, we will discuss concepts such as the Creative Process, Differentiated Instruction in the music classroom and Culturally Responsive teaching. Remember to bring your own or borrow a guitar for this session.
